Oral Cancer Screening
A Small Check That Can Make a Big Difference
An oral cancer screening is a quick, routine part of your dental visit, but it plays an important role in protecting your long-term health.
Most of the time, patients don’t even realize it’s happening. It’s simply part of a careful examination of your mouth, jaw, tongue, and surrounding tissues to make sure everything looks and feels as it should.
At Dr. T Dental Studio, we include oral cancer screenings as part of our commitment to thorough, preventive care.
Why We Do It
Oral cancer often develops quietly in its early stages, without obvious symptoms.
That’s why regular screenings matter. They give us the chance to notice small changes early, when they are easier to monitor, investigate, and treat if needed.
While the majority of findings are completely harmless, the goal is always prevention, not reaction.

What We Look For
During your screening, we carefully examine the soft tissues of your mouth and surrounding areas, including your lips, tongue, cheeks, gums, and throat.
We are looking for anything that appears unusual or out of place, such as persistent sores, unusual patches, or changes in texture or colour. We also gently feel the jaw and neck to check for any areas that feel different than expected.
It is a simple, non-invasive part of your regular dental exam.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
There is nothing you need to do before your visit, and the screening itself takes only a few moments.
Most patients describe it as just part of their routine checkup. There is no discomfort, no special tools required, and no interruption to your appointment.
If anything ever needs a closer look, we will explain it clearly and guide you through the next steps so you are never left wondering.

Peace of Mind Through Prevention
The most important part of oral cancer screening is not finding problems, it is the reassurance that comes from knowing someone is paying attention.
Most screenings are completely normal, which is exactly what we hope for. But taking a few moments to check is an important part of protecting your health over time.
